Holy Crap, the Green Billboard Thing Actually Happened

Not long ago, we marveled over the inspired craziness of "Garden Spots," a prize-winning proposal to take back advertecture by "seeding them with oxygen-producing, solar-powered, local flora and fauna — making the local landscape a bit friendlier and greener for us all." Wacky! But broker-blogger Andrew Fine reports that someone actually pulled it off, kinda. Pure Yoga on the UES has installed a "living wall" on 86th Street, and while the intent was not to obscure or enhance an advertisement, it sort of functions as a billboard in and of itself, no? Who doesn't want to find out what hippies were responsible for it?
