LOS ANGELES -- Burglars broke into the home of Paris Hilton in the hills above Sherman Oaks overnight, police said, and a newspaper reported that about $2 million in jewelry was stolen.

A security guard reported about 5 a.m. that a forced entry had occurred in the 3300 block of Clarendon Street, in Mulholland Estates area, that a bedroom was ransacked and that property was taken, said Officer Julianne Sohn of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office.

Sohn says detectives report that a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt broke into the home and ransacked Hilton's bedroom.

About $2 million worth of jewelry and other items were stolen, Los Angeles Police Department sources told The Los Angeles Times. Sohn said she could not confirm the Times report.

Hilton was not home at the time, Sohn said.

No arrests have been made and police say the investigation continues.
