E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons recently said that he had a day that he will never forget. That is because he traveled from his Florida home to New York within hours to play on a Lady Gaga song, Rolling Stone reported.

Famous for his association with Bruce Springsteen, the sax player remembered when he got the phone call from Lady Gaga’s representatives. "They said to me, 'Lady Gaga wants you to play on her album,'" Clemons told Rolling Stone. "This is on a Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm. I said, 'When do you want me to do it? I'm free Monday or Tuesday.' They go, "No, she needs you RIGHT NOW in New York City."

Gaga and Clemons collaborated on her song called “Hair.” The saxophonist said in Rolling Stone he was already a fan of the pop star before heading into the studio. "I play sax through the whole song and I have a solo," Clemons said. "I'm surprised I'm getting paid for this. I would have done it for free. I can never believe something that feels so good earns me money." He also said about Gaga: "She's the real deal."

The singer recently talked to Ryan Seacrest about “Hair” on his radio show: I actually had Clarence Clemons come in. He played saxophone. It's really interesting, because it's putting saxophone on this really huge electronic record."

In other Gaga news, the star is scheduled to play New York’s Madison Square Garden on Monday and Tuesday.
