Minneapolis hip-hop crew Doomtree released one of the sleepers of the year with No Kings, a disc that combines trunk-rattling beats, mournful keyboards, thoughtful ruminating on society and lots of back and forth double-time showing off. To get a taste of it, check out the video for "Bolt Cutter" below.

Should you find that video appealing, or should you have long been on the Doomtree tip, you'll be glad to know that the crew, will play the Bowery Ballroom on Feb. 16.

Tickets are available here.

Doomtree includes two indie-rap notables in their ranks:  punk-rapper P.O.S. and polygot rapper/singer/poet Dessa, but spend some time with No Kings and you will learn to enjoy the charms of Cecil Otter, Sims, Mike Mictlan Lazerbeak and Paper Tiger as well.
