Barbecue, Beer and Charity

While we're mostly concerned with what's on the plate at restaurants across the city—wine, beer, and booze are equally important, especially over the weekend. Each week, for your drinking pleasure, we'll highlight notable events placing potables on a pedestal.

On Wednesday, August 31, the barbecue greats at Hill Country will host a "'Cue & Craft Beer Cocktail" dinner. The $65 per person dinner will feature a cocktail hour with bites like smoked duck leg with spätzle and St. Louis-style pork ribs. Each of the evenings three courses (yes, even the chocolate cheesecake), will be paired with a beer cocktail. To purchase tickets or for more information , call 646-380-5973 or email laura@hillcountryny.com.

If you're looking to get your craft beer fix a bit sooner than the end of the month (say, tonight), The Vanderbilt has teamed up with Brooklyn Brewery to benefit The Barman's Fund. The fund consists of a collection of local bartenders who donate all the money from their first shift of the month to a rotating group of charities. Starting at 11 p.m., everyone behind the bar will work for free, with all proceeds going to The Barman's Fund. [The Feast]
