Police have arrested and charged two juveniles for allegedly starting the brush fire that shut down a section of the Garden State Parkway for about 10 hours last week evening, State Police said Wednesday.

Police said that brush fires that shut down part of the Garden State Parkway on Wednesday were a result of arson, with investigators looking for a group of teenagers who ran into a nearby apartment complex.

The preliminary investigation found that several individuals, possibly kids, started the fire in a draining culvert that runs underneath the highway.

The highway was was closed in brick between exits 91 and 98 in he evening, and remained closed for hours.

A section of the Garden State Parkway closed Wednesday evening after brush fires broke out in the woods nearby — and was still closed well into the night.
