NHL Game Summary – Buffalo at New Jersey

Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Thomas Vanek scored two more goals and Derek Roy added a goal and an assist, as the Buffalo Sabres topped the New Jersey Devils, 4-2, at Prudential Center.

Drew Stafford also lit the lamp for Buffalo, while Patrick Lalime recorded 20 saves in the club's fourth win in five games.

Kevin Weekes made 30 saves but it wasn't enough and halted New Jersey's win streak at four. Bobby Holik scored his first goal of the season and Patrik Elias extended his point streak to six games with a goal in defeat.

After an exciting second frame, the Sabres scored two unanswered in the third. Roy capped a give-and-go on the power play with Jaroslav Spacek, who faked a shot at the point and passed to Roy on the right goal line for the go-ahead marker 8:43 into the stanza.

At little over four minutes later, Vanek went top-shelf on Weekes' glove side for his NHL-leading 24th tally of the year, and Lalime denied all six shots in the final period to snap the Devils' five-game home win streak.

Vanek appropriately made Sabres history by recording the 10,000th goal for the franchise just 1:10 into the game off a rebound.

New Jersey followed with two goals in the second with Elias tying things 58 seconds into the frame on a wrister and Holik scoring at the 5:09 mark.

With the Devils' Johnny Oduya serving a two-minute minor, the Sabres tied it again with 8:55 left in the second on Stafford's sixth goal of the season.
