Worshipers from Charred Church Celebrate Easter at NJ Arts Center

Congregants of a 156-year-old New Jersey church that was destroyed by fire this week say they're thankful to celebrate Easter at an alternate site.

Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood gathered for services Sunday at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood.

The celebration came just days after the church went up in flames. The cause of Tuesday night's fire remains under investigation, but officials don't consider it suspicious.

No one was in the building at the time and no one was injured. The church pastor says the fire apparently started on a balcony inside the building and likely was caused by an electrical problem.

The church's website says it was established in 1860. The current building was built in 1870 and had been enlarged over the years.
