SUV Crashes Into Poles, Building on Long Island, Killing 2 Men: Police

A sport utility vehicle hit two poles and a building on Long Island early Saturday, killing the driver and passenger, police said.

Jose Edgardo Diaz, 23, was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on Little East Neck Road in West Babylon when he lost control and the vehicle struck two poles and then hit a building, Suffolk County police said.

Diaz and his passenger, 53-year-old Brian Zatkowski, were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The impact of the crash shattered windows at a chiropractor's office in the building that was struck.

Building owner A.J. Sweeney said parts of the SUV ended up inside the building.
