Man Arrested After Police Search for Gunman on SUNY Purchase Campus

Authorities have arrested the man who prompted a campus alert at SUNY Purchase Sunday night.

Police said they arrested 24-year-old Jean-Pierre Filtcher of New Rochelle Monday evening after he reportedly got into a fight at a student event the night before and then fled.

Authorities got a report that he was armed, and advised students to remain indoors Sunday night as they searched for him for about three hours.

Police determined that the campus was safe at about 11:30 p.m.

There were no reports of gunfire or anyone hurt at the college in Westchester County.

Attorney information for Filtcher wasn't immediately available.

A SUNY Purchase spokesperson said late Sunday night that the campus wasn't on a lockdown, but simply advised students to stay indoors.
