Suffolk County Cops Fatally Shoot Man

A Long Island man has been shot and killed by police officers during a confrontation at the man's home.

Suffolk County police say officers were called to a report of a man with a gun at a home on Franklin Avenue in Selden just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say officers arrived at the scene and found 26-year-old Kevin Callahan standing in the doorway. When officers approached him, police say Callahan went inside. The officers followed him into the home and a confrontation ensued, resulting in Callahan being shot by the officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say if a weapon was recovered or how many shots were fired. No other details were immediately available.
