The initial claim of an attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in Brooklyn Tuesday morning turned out to be a bogus complaint, law enforcement sources close to the investigation tell News 4.

Initially sources said a girl was apparently walking to school near Belmont Avenue and Vermont Street when the man who was wearing a red hoodie pulled a knife on the girl and demanded she go with him, adding that the suspect allegedly took off running.

Multiple police officers and law enforcement responded to the scene. 

However, upon further investigation and after interviewing the teen, authorities determined there was no attempted kidnapping, according to the sources.
