Police are looking for two men who forced their way into an elderly woman’s Washington Heights home and robbed the place. Marc Santia talks to the shaken up victim and gets the latest on the search for the two suspects.
Police are looking for the robbers who forced their way into an 87-year-old woman’s home late last month, forcing her to sit in a chair as they hit her great-grandson in the head with a pistol and tied him up.
Dominga Pichardo was at her home on West 164th street in Washington Heights when a someone rang her doorbell. She said she thought maybe the building superintendent was the one on the other side, only to be surprised by violent robbers on the other side.
The men forced their way inside and told her in Spanish to be quiet, Pichardo said. One of the robbers ordered her into a seat while the other suspect pistol-whipped and tied up her 21-year-old great-grandson.
“They hit him on the back of the head,” she said. “He had a lot of blood on his head.”
The robbers then tore through the home and stole cash before leaving.
Pichardo celebrated her 88th birthday on Friday and said the only gift she wants is the arrest of the two men who ransacked her home and hit her great-grandson.
"I want them to be caught,” she said. “I want them behind bars."
