A man was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run as he walked across an intersection on Staten Island, police said.
Daniel Nelson, 59, of Staten Island, was struck at the intersection of Hecker Street and Amboy Road, police said. He was found on the pavement with head trauma, police said.
He was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.
The vehicle fled the scene. The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
