13 Displaced, Firefighter Hurt in NJ Blaze

The cause of the fire is not known.

Thirteen people were displaced and a firefighter was hospitalized after a fast-moving fire roared through a northern New Jersey home that contained several apartments.

It's not yet known what caused the fire at the 2-story home in Paterson. But fire officials say all the residents safely escaped shortly after the blaze broke out around 9:15 a.m. Saturday.

The fire caused severe damage throughout the home, but further details were not immediately disclosed. Red Cross staffers were working Saturday afternoon to find temporary shelter for residents who could not stay with family or friends.

One city firefighter, whose name was not disclosed, suffered a muscle injury while battling the blaze and was treated at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
