Police are searching for two men seen on surveillance video destroying a statue at a Catholic Church in Brooklyn over the weekend.
The angel statue was one of several others surrounding a Virgin Mary statue outside Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg.
Surveillance video from around 11:55 p.m. Saturday shows what appears to be two men stumbling and climbing near the angel statue as other people move about nearby.
One of the men is seen standing in a praying position next to the statue as another man tries to climb behind him. The video shows the two men losing their balance and falling into the statue, causing the angel to tumble to the ground. It's head was knocked off in the fall.
It’s not the first time a statue has been broken at the church. Several years ago, a vandal knocked over an angel statue that was sitting out front, shattering it.
