A 29-year-old man delivering food was shot and killed in New Jersey Thursday morning, authorities say.

Rui Zhou was allegedly delivering food in Paterson during the early hours with his wife Xiaomei Liu, 29, in a white Toyota Highlander when he was shot while driving, subsequently crashing the vehicle a short distance away on East 34th Street.

Authorities were called to the scene around 12:42 a.m.

Liu was unharmed, while Zhou was taken to the St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 1:09 a.m., officials say.

The investigation is ongoing.
