A man accused earlier this year of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl has been arrested in Florida, authorities said Friday.
The victim told detectives in January that Joseph McCain, 45, was an acquaintance of her mother and sexually assaulted her in Ridgewood, New Jersey, when she was 11 years old, according to Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal.
Detectives from the prosecutor's office located McCain on Thursday in Orlando, Florida, with help from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
McCain was subsequently charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held without bail in the Orange County Jail pending an extradition hearing.
