Part of Interstate 287 in New Jersey was closed for hours after a crash involving two police cars and another vehicle Monday afternoon.
State Police say the crash near exit 26 in Bernards Township at about 2:30 p.m. may have been the result of a police pursuit. One of the police cars involved was driven by a state trooper and the other by a Bernards Township police officer.
A woman inside the third vehicle, an SUV, was airlifted to Morristown Hospital.
The conditions of the two officers and woman are unknown.
All lanes reopened around 5 p.m, officials say, but miles-long delays persisted well into the evening.
It's not clear what may have started the police pursuit, and authorities have not said if a suspect is in custody.
