Holiday Package Thief Caught Swiping Boxes From Long Island Home

Police say they've arrested a Long Island man captured on security video brazenly swiping packages from a front porch, thanks to a community effort on Facebook to track him and his getaway driver down.

The crystal-clear video shows the man, dressed in a sweatsuit, with a lit cigarette dangling from his mouth, as he strides toward the porch in Southampton and picks up two large boxes. He breaks into a jog as he heads back to a waiting car.

The video was taken Tuesday, according to Southampton police. By Wednesday, thanks to a "great community effort using Facebook," police located the suspects and found more stolen packages in their car, police said.

The man in the video, 37-year-old Pasquale Decicco, was arrested on charges of three counts of petit larceny and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property. He's being held until his arraignment Wednesday morning.

A woman, 34-year-old Christen Fleming, was also arrested; she's charged with one count of petit larceny. She has been released on an appearance ticket.

It wasn't immediately clear if Decicco or Fleming had attorneys who could comment on their behalf.
