Sweet-toothed New Yorkers who crave baked treats in the middle of the night will soon be able to sleep easier as a bakery gets set to open a cupcake ATM on the Upper East Side next week.
Sprinkles Cupcakes will roll out its pastel-colored cupcake-dispensing machine Tuesday on Lexington Avenue between 60th and 61st streets, the New York Observer reports.
The machine can hold up to 760 cupcakes, cookies and other treats and will be open 24/7, according to the Observer.
The Los Angeles-based bakery first announced the ATM in 2012, saying the machines would be constantly restocked with flavors of the day and other delectable desserts at any given time. Cupcake ATMs have also been installed in Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas.
According to Forbes, the idea for the machines came about when Sprinkles’ owner was pregnant and had cravings for the treats.
