Woman's Loaded Gun Stolen From Bathroom Stall at Popular Food Market Hall: NYPD

The woman is a retired law enforcement officer, according to sources

Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a loaded handgun from a woman inside a popular food hall in midtown Manhattan last week.

The woman, a 48-year-old retired law enforcement officer, left her licensed firearm inside a bathroom stall at the Urbanspace at Vanderbilt food hall near Grand Central Terminal at around noon on Wednesday, Jan. 23, according to police sources.

When she left the bathroom to get her stuff, she realized a stranger had taken the gun, a loaded Luger 380 semi-automatic handgun, and ran off, police said.

Surveillance video shows a person of interest walking into the market, then leaving on the south side of East 46th Street between Park and Vanderbilt avenues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
