A man has stabbed his girlfriend to death in the home they shared in Brooklyn, police say.
The NYPD said Tuesday that Anthony Bradford was arrested on murder and weapons-possession charges in Laverne Spencer's death.
It's not immediately clear whether the 53-year-old had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
A possible phone number for the couple's home was out of order early Tuesday.
Police say Spencer was found, wounded in the torso and legs, just after midnight Monday at her apartment on Gates Avenue, in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood.
The 55-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Local resident Marvin Herring tells the Daily News that Spencer always had a smile for people she passed walking her dog around the neighborhood.
