Woman Steals More Than $50K From Friend by Forging Checks: Police

Police say a Long Island woman stole more than $50,000 from a friend who asked her to help her pay her bills while she recovered from a medical procedure.

Maureen Adamo, 52, forged checks from her 73-year-old friend’s bank account and deposited them into her own, according to Nassau County police.

The woman is accused of taking more than $50,000.

Adamo was arrested Tuesday in Bethpage. She was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument. It was unknown if she had an attorney.
