Waiter Charged with Breaking Into 17 Long Island Homes

A Brooklyn waiter is accused of burglarizing 17 homes on Long Island.

Mamuka Bokuchava, 31, was initially charged with three counts of burglary on Feb. 20, said Nassau County police.

However, he was charged with 14 more burglary counts after investigators searched his home and found tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, designer purses and sunglasses, authorities said.

Nassau County Police Chief Kevin Smith said there's so much property that investigators are still going through it.

Investigators say the break-ins began in November 2014 in Port Washington and surrounding areas.

Bokuchava, who was arraigned Saturday, is a waiter at an upscale Manhattan restaurant, a prosecutor said.

His attorney, Tara Whelan, said he is his family's sole provider. His wife and child attended his court appearance.
