Wet Weather Likely to Continue After Storms Batter Parts of Region

Wet weather is likely to continue throughout the day Tuesday after a wave of humidity sent temperatures back into the 80s Monday, causing some severe thunderstorms across the region, according to Storm Team 4.

Scattered thunderstorms and isolated showers are likely Tuesday, especially during the afternoon and early evening, as the muggy, warmer weather lingers.

The wet weather comes on the heels of scattered thunderstorms that hit northwest parts of the region, including the Catskills, Poconos, northwest New Jersey and the upper Hudson Valley, Monday afternoon and evening. Heavy winds on Long Island caused some downed trees and small scattered power outages.

Temperatures will continue to climb later in the week, with highs Thursday and Friday expected to be between 85 and 90 degrees amid mostly sunny skies.

The chance for thunderstorms returns Saturday.
