Slain Man's Kin Seek Top Sentence for NYC Cop

A family is calling for a tough sentence for a New York City police officer convicted in the deadly shooting of an unarmed drunken driver.

Fermin Arzu's daughter, Katherine, and the Rev. Al Sharpton pushed Saturday for the maximum possible sentence for Officer Rafael Lora.

Lora was found guilty Friday of second-degree manslaughter, following a non-jury trial. He faces up to 15 years in prison. His sentencing is set for May 15.

Arzu crashed his minivan into a parked car outside the officer's Bronx home in April 2007. The officer said he fired in self-defense when Arzu trapped him with the minivan door and dragged him.

Lora was off-duty at the time of the shooting.
