Police: Woman Left 4-Year-Old on NYC Street Corner

The upstate woman got off a bus around 1 a.m. Saturday on Staten Island, left the child on the street and got back onto the bus without him, police say

Police allege an upstate woman left her 4-year-old son on a New York City street corner in the middle of the night.

Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan's office says Maylisha Harrell of Binghamton is charged with two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment.

Authorities say she got off a bus around 1 a.m. Saturday on Staten Island, left the child on the street and got back onto the bus without him.

The Staten Island Advance says a witness called police.

According to court papers, Harrell said she thought the child's uncle was coming to pick him up.

Her attorney did not immediately respond to a telephone message requesting comment.
