A student at a New Jersey middle school was arrested with a gun at the building Wednesday, authorities say.
Maplewood Middle School was placed in a "code red status" as authorities responded to a report of a student with a weapon around noon.
Appropriate measures were taken to ensure student security as a search of the building was conducted, authorities said.
The male student was apprehended and charged with possession of a handgun.
The investigation is ongoing.
