Map Your Commute Online

Getting from the Bronx to the Battery is getting a little easier at least when it comes to mapping out a subway route. New York City Transit officials rolled out improvements to their online map of the nation's largest mass transit system on Wednesday.

The map's new trip planner includes choices to minimize transfers, travel time or distance walked. Users also can pick a preferred subway route, search for disabled-accessible stations and pinpoint popular destinations.

Google added the city's transit system to its map service in September, integrating it with search features such as restaurant reviews.

NYC Transit's digital map technology was provided by Chicago-based NAVTEQ, with aerial imagery by Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Virtual Earth.
