Man Walking Dog in Bronx Shot in Head: NYPD

A man visiting his family in the Bronx was shot in the head as he walked his stepmother's dog, police sources say, and he's now in critical condition as police look for the gunman.

It's not clear if the 32-year-old victim was the intended target. Sources said he was shot just before 5 p.m., possibly by someone in the loby of the Sonia Sotomayor Houses.

"I just heard two shots from my window," said neighbor Mark Matza.

"It was shocking, and you know, I had to think for a quick second, OK, now summer's here, is it firecrackers? It was clear," he said.

The victim did have a criminal record, according to sources, but it's not known if it had anything to do with the shooting.
