A 46-year-old man was hit by an SUV and killed while crossing at an intersection in Queens, police said.
Officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of 104th Street and 41st Avenue in North Corona just after 11:30 p.m. on Friday, authorities said. Upon arrival, they saw a man lying unconscious and unresponsive in the crosswalk.
The victim sustained severe head and body trauma, police said. He was taken to Elmhurst hospital in an ambulance, where he was later prounounced dead.
A preliminary investigation conducted by NYPD's Highway Collision Squad revealed that a dark-colored SUV hit the victim and fled the scene, according to authorities.
