A man was rescued after falling about 125 feet off a cliff on the Palisades Parkway in New Jersey Sunday evening, officials said.
Rappel teams worked for nearly three hours to rescue the Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., man near the base of a cliff around 6:30 p.m., according to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police.
Authorities said he was "alert and conscious."
He was taken to the hospital with several traumatic injuries, but is expected to survive.
A relative said the 45-year-old man had veered off a marked trail and fallen.
