A 56-year-old man who punched in the face by a stranger in an apparently unprovoked attack in Queens has died, police say.
Roberto Martires died early Tuesday morning at Elmhurst Hospital, where he had been hospitalized in critical condition since the assault just after midnight Friday.
Police say Martires was standing on the sidewalk on Roosevelt Avenue near 69th Street in Woodside when a man approached and hit him in the face, police say.
The attacker left the scene.
On Monday, police released a surveillance photo (above) of a man in his mid-20s who is wanted for questioning in the attack.
