12 Reputed ‘Goonies' Gang Members Charged With Crimes, Including Killing Teen

Federal and state authorities will announce federal racketeering charges against 12 members of the violent Mount Vernon-based gang called The Goonies at a press conference later Thursday at the U.S. Attorney’s office in White Plains.

The nine-count federal indictment charges the gang members with racketeering, murder, narcotics distribution, robbery, and firearms offenses, court papers say.

Included in the charges are two murders: the Dec. 31, 2016 murder of 13-year-old Shamoya McKenzie, who was struck by a stray bullet during an attempted murder of a gang rival, and the Sept. 22, 2014 murder of Dean Daniels, the indictment says.

Two of the gang members were arrested by the FBI Thursday. The other 10 defendants were already in federal custody on other charges, a law enforcement source said.

Details of the investigation and charges are expected to be released at the 11A a.m. press conference in White Plains.
