Alleged Westchester Gas Station Robber Caught

Officials say he bought gas at one station and then returned to rob it, wearing a mask.

A suspect who allegedly bought gas at a Westchester gas station and then returned wearing a ski mask to rob it has been caught and will face federal criminal charges.

ATF officials identify the man as John Allen, 40, and say he is linked to two holdups near the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Officials say he is seen on video allegedly robbing a gas station in Mount Pleasant and another in Elmsford.

Police said Allen robbed a Sunoco station along Marble Avenue at 3:30 a.m. on March 1. He then allegedly targeted the Gulf Station on West Main in Elmsford.

“Armed robbery is of serious concern,” said Westchester Public Safety Commissioner George Longworth. “This person was particularly brazen, committing two gunpoint robberies in 30 minutes.”

Allen is expected to be arraigned in federal court in White Plains. Investigators said he has a past conviction for robbery. It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.
