A 57-year-old man died and six other people were injured Saturday in a house fire in Staten Island, police said.
Firefighters found George McAndrew, of 1286 Rockland Ave., unconscious in the living room of his apartment after extinguishing a fire in the two-story, wood-frame house. McAndrew was taken to Staten Island North Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Six other people were taken to area hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries, police said.
