Cuomo and Nixon: Just a Friendly Wager

The governors of New York and Missouri on Sunday seized the publicity-grabbing ploy of announcing their friendly wager on the World Series.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo will don a Royals jersey for an entire workday should the Mets lose and Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will work a full day in Mets garb should Kansas City lose, according to terms of the bet.

"I thank Governor Nixon for his participation in this friendly wager and think he will look great in blue and orange,” said a confident Cuomo.

“Good as the Metropolitans have been in the postseason, I don’t see them overcoming this playoff-seasoned team," responded a condescending Nixon.

Should the Mets win the series, the wager requires Nixon to send Cuomo:

  • A commemorative jersey from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City;
  • A bag of 20th anniversary, platinum blend coffee from The Roasterie;
  • A Ford-150 ball cap fro the truck's assembly plant in Kansas City.

Should the Royals prevail, Cuomo will send Nixon:

  • A hat form the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown;
  • Bagels from Jrs. Bagel factory in Queens;
  • Anchor Bar wing sauce from Western New York;
  • Gianelli's hot Italian Sausage;
  • A sampling of craft beer, wine and cider produced in the state.
