Connecticut Metro-North Stations Closed Briefly After Bank Robberies

Two Fairfield Metro-North stations were shut down and trains were held while police investigated two bank robberies Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The Metro-North station and the Fairfield Metro Center were both closed briefly while police searched for the robbers. One Metro-North train and two Amtrak trains have been stopped, according to police.

The Bank of America at 1366 Post Road and the Chase Bank at 340 Grasmere Avenue were robbed this afternoon within 10 minutes of each other, according to police.

Police dogs also were being used to track down the suspects.

Officers were posted at every bank in the east side of town in an effort to prevent another holdup.

This is the second time Metro-North stations in Connecticut have been shut down after bank robberies in recent weeks. In August, the Greenwich station was closed for about an hour when a robber ran toward the station after hitting a nearby People's Union Bank branch.
