A Connecticut man was arrested early Sunday for allegedly bringing his two young children to a bar and attempting to walk them home in an intoxicated state, police said.
Glen White, 48, of Newtown, had been drinking at a Willimantic bar while his two children, ages 8 and 11, sat with him, police said. When asked to leave the bar, he and his children got into his car and prepared to drive away, but a witness called Willimantic police.
When the officers arrived, White and his two children got out the car and began to walk to a relative's house in the neighboring town of Columbia. The officers noticed that the two children were dressed in T-shirts that offered no protection against the 2 a.m. temperatures.
White was charged with causing a risk of injury to a minor and was being held on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. There was no information available indicating he had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the arrest.
