Coca-Cola Truck Hits 86-Year-Old Man Walking on Manhattan Street: Police

An 86-year-old man is not expected to survive after being hit by a Coca-Cola truck as he walked on an Upper East Side street Friday afternoon, authorities say.

Police say the truck hit the man near East 96th Street and Third Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m.

He was taken to the hospital with severe head trauma.

Witnesses said the man was looking at rugs at a store before crossing the street and getting hit.

In a statement, The Coca-Cola Company said it was cooperating with officials.

"Our thoughts are with those involved in this incident, and our primary concern is their well-being," the statement said.
