Christie Stands Behind Decision to Kill NY-NJ Tunnel

Gov. Chris Christie says he has no regrets about cancelling a rail tunnel project between New Jersey and Manhattan.

Christie said on Friday that the ARC tunnel was "an awfully conceived project" and that no amount of complaining would change his mind.

Christie spent more than six hours last week exchanging Twitter messages with delayed New Jersey Transit riders. Some criticized his cancelling of the project called Access to the Region's Core.

He said he scrapped it for fear of cost overruns that would unfairly impact New Jersey.

Christie said he is still open to two other transit projects, including an extension of New York's number 7 subway line.

He said he spoke to New Jersey Transit about doing a better job communicating with riders when there are delays.
