NYC Man Doesn't Win $1M Super Bowl Doritos Ad Contest

The Queens man who was selected as a finalist in Doritos' Super Bowl ad competition didn't walk away with the $1 million grand prize, but he did earn a trip to watch the big game in Glendale, Arizona, Sunday.

Alex Pepper, the 25-year-old dancer and actor who created and starred in the ad, was selected a finalist in the annual Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest. He won $25,000 and a trip to the game at University of Phoenix Stadium.

He was hopeful that his ad, which features a guy who works up the courage to introduce himself to a next-door crush with the help of a friend's encouragement (and a bag of Doritos), would win him the top prize, but fans voted ads featuring a flying pig and and a man trying to get extra leg room on a flight.

Still, Pepper said the $25,000 more than makes up for the $80 in production cost -- and is more than he made last year as an actor and dancer.
