Teen Charged With Felony Assault in MTA Bus Driver Attack

A 17-year-old Bronx boy has been arrested for allegedly spraying an irritant in the eyes of an MTA bus driver at a Manhattan intersection earlier this month.

Police say the suspect allegedly walked up to the driver's window at Isham Street and Sherman Avenue in Inwood shortly before 4 a.m. May 3 and sprayed the substance in the driver’s face.

Afterward, the suspect left the scene. Surveillance video showed him running down Sherman Avenue and waving his arms in the air.

The spray irritated the driver’s eyes, police say, but he wasn’t taken to the hospital.

The teenager was charged with felony assault.
