A robbery led to a short police chase that ended in death early Tuesday morning.
Investigators said a man was robbing a woman inside the subway station at 49th Street and 7th Avenue at about 3 a.m.
As officers approached, the suspect hustled into a waiting car, which quickly took off, ran a red light and then crashed into a sanitation truck.
The robbery suspect was killed, his female getaway driver is in critical condition and the woman who was robbed is in stable condition. Also, two sanitation workers suffered minor injuries.
