3 Passengers Pull Gun on Uber Driver in NJ: Police

After the driver pulled over, they took his money and cell phone before flinging his car keys into a wooded area, police said

Three men pulled a gun on their Uber driver on a New Jersey road, then took his money and cell phone before fleeing the scene, police said Monday.

The Uber driver picked up the trio in Manhattan and was driving them to a home in Jackson, New Jersey, on Sunday afternoon, police said. When the driver didn't go directly to the address, one of the men pulled out a handgun, according to police.

After the driver pulled over, they took his money and cell phone before flinging his car keys into a wooded area, police said. The driver flagged down patrol officers.

"We’re in touch with this driver and with law enforcement to offer our support and to assist in the investigation any way we can," Uber said in a statement.

Investigators were searching for the three men.
