A Newark man was fatally shot early Saturday in a residential neighborhood of the city, police said.
Officers responding to a report of gunfire at about 1:25 a.m. found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the 200 block of South 6th Street in the Fairmont neighborhood, police said.
The man, later identified as Darnell D. Smith, 19, was taken to University Hospital where he died, investigators said.
No arrests has been made.
