At just over five years old, veteran restaurateur Stephen Starr's modern Asian spot Buddakan is still packed every night. The scope of diners at the restaurant on any given night is wide, including hundreds of tourists, business types and a daily Sex and the City tour group. Even a jaded New Yorker would be impressed by the enormous and impressively detailed restaurant, the work of designer Chrisian Liaigre (Mercer Kitchen, Hakkasan). On Saturdays, the number of covers often hits an insane 1,000.
Even though Buddakan is a well-oiled machine at this point, that's only because of its dedicated, hard working service and kitchen staff (about 15 servers have been there since day one). Meet them in this week's Class Photo. [The Feast]
