The classic American label has tapped three young designers to create a bridge line for fall 2011, according to a new report in WWD.

The Portland Collection, being unveiled in January, represents a collaboration by Portland-based Church & State designers Nathaniel Crissman and Rachel Turk and John Blasioli, who designs an eponymous line on top of stage ensembles for indie folk-rock band The Decemberists.

The three set out to put a contemporary spin on the traditional Western-style and Native American wool blankets -- the company started as a woolen mill in Oregan in 1863 -- sourcing the brand's archives and fabrics as inspiration for updated looks with a "bit of irreverence." The men's and women's lines include clothing (dresses in the $200 range), accessories (prices start at $78 for a tie) and outerwear (up to $700).

The collection comes on the heels of several collaborations Pendleton has released with brands from Vans and Timberland to Comme des Garçons and Opening Ceremony (pictured above), as the "heritage" aesthetic comes back in vogue.
