Jason Wu, a designer known for his luxurious, ladylike collection has been tapped to design the mass retailer's next collaboration, according to WWD.

While the designer first came to prominence as the creator of Michelle Obama's breathtaking white inauguration gown, Wu has since become both an editor's and retailer's darling for his feminine tailoring, flattering silhouettes, and high-end details. WWD reported Tuesday that the collection is set to hit stores on February 5, and that the goods will range from $19.99 to $59.99 for clothing and $19.99 to $49.99 for handbags and scarves.

The stand-alone collection will be the first designer collaboration with Target since the mass retailer's blockbuster partnership with Missoni, which -- while incredibly popular -- stirred resentment among shoppers since the collection sold out so quickly.

As the designer told WWD, teaming up with Target will allow Wu to expand his reach, though the designer insisted he's still focused, as ever, on quality:

"This partnership offers an exciting opportunity for me to interpret my aesthetic into a collection made for a broader market," he said. "It was very interesting for me to translate my signature touches into a more affordable collection without compromising quality, design and sophistication. My collection for Target features clothes and accessories that are easily convertible from day to evening -- sophisticated, feminine dresses, mix-and-match separates and playful accessories all with a bit of charm and dressed-up attitude."

In partnering with Target, Wu joins a list of past designers that include Rodarte, Zac Posen, and Thakoon, among others. Target has been posting hints on the Twitter feed for @TargetStyle, including tidbits about how the designer "began sketching the future of fashion at 5 years old.

The news was confirmed via Twitter, with Target tweeting a link to a video offering up some excellent sneak peeks of the collection to come:
